Palm Oil - An MPOC Initiative

Recently we witnessed a unique and a distinct session at our dedicated venue Ardor 2.0 to understand the benefits of (@thinkpalmoil) Palm oil at an event organised by MPOC.

Dr. Bhavna Shah (MPOC Regional Head for India & Sri lanka) who enlightened everybody about the characteristics and the benefits of using Palm oil and its usage in our daily routine

The session was highly informative and actually gave a new perception on the use and features of Palm oil

We were all divided in a team if six for the various activities that were planned for us! Before that, we were shown clippings and videos that broadened our horizon towards the usage and knowledge of Palm Oil and it's properties!

We were glad to join hands with MPOC in spreading the message!

Apparently Palm oil is a common ingredient in many packaged foods, from better-for-you nutrition bars and heart-healthy spreads to indulgent cookies and candies. Much of the palm oil consumed in the United States is sustainably grown and produced from Malaysia!!

In addition to being non-GMO, palm oil is naturally trans fat-free and rich in heart- and brain-healthy vitamin E tocotrienols. More manufacturers are expected to turn to this premium ingredient as a replacement for both trans fats and GMO oils in their processed foods. Among the packaged food companies, Nestle, Danone, Kelloggs, Unilever, ConAgra Foods, Pepsico and General Mills all received high marks awarding them green ratings that reflected strong commitment. For the personal care category, Colgate-Palmolive, Henkel, L’Oreal, P&G and Reckitt Benckiser received green ratings for making strong commitments to using palm oil that does not contribute to deforestation.

The highlight of the event was the Food-Hunt that was organized for us. Every part of the event had the use of Palm Oil in the food items served to us. Our first clue took us to Pandey Paan (@pandeypaan) where we tasted a paan which had almonds fried to perfect crisp in palm oil.

Our next clue took us to My Bar Headquarters (@mybarheadquarters) where we had to prepare a salad using various veggies and other sauces and palm oil and finally to Punjabi By Nature (@punjabibynature2.0) for a Palm Oil quiz, and then returned back to @ardor2.1!! That was one kind of a food hunt!

We then had a blind fold tasting session where we tasted Kadhai Paneer which had the main ingredient of palm oil and it tasted super sumptuous!!!! All in all, we had an amazing time and actually feeling ecstatic about it!

Waiting for something like this to come up again!!
A great appreciation for Dr Bhavna to open a new window for us and a special mention of Ms Priyanka Patel who managed to get us together and involved us in every single activity making sure that we all had a great time and lovely experience to live by!
